This project set up 20 (exclusion fenced) seed nurseries on properties in the Western Region involved with Ecosystem Management Understanding (EMU) – broadscale rangelands rehabilitation & rehydration. These properties are based around White Cliffs and Packsaddle and incorporate a number of different landscapes, including that of the critically endangered Thick Billed Grass Wren. Seed nurseries are built so landholders can collect locally endemic seed to spread in areas of rehabilitation works – ponding and ripping or use them as a dispersal center. Local provenance seed is important biologically for native species in local landscape rehabilitation.
